General Affairs Council endorses the Council's 18-months programme by the incoming trio presidencies of Italy, Latvia and Luxembourg

The General Affairs Council endorsed the 18-month programme of the Council of the European Union drawn up by the incoming trio of Presidencies – Italy, Latvia and Luxembourg. The next Trio Presidency begins on 1 July 2014, and Latvia will lead the Council's work during its second six-month period.

The trio programme will outline the Council's agenda from 1 July 2014 to 31 December 2015. The joint priorities for the next 18 month set out by the three countries are the promotion of growth and jobs in the EU – also by unlocking the potential of the digital market – financial stability in the Eurozone, and the strengthening of the EU's global role. The Trio Presidency also intends to jointly work on the issues of EU climate and energy policy and migration.
