New Ambassador of Hungary to Latvia Adrien Müller is the one who has been closely together with her country from the very beginning of the EU membership application till the first Hungarian EU Council Presidency. She has worked with the implementation of the Association Agreement between the EU and Hungary, accession negotiations with the EU and has prepared the first Hungarian Presidency.

The Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union reveals its cultural programme

Riga, 10 November 2014. The Latvian Presidency's public diplomacy and cultural programme was revealed in the Riga Bourse Art Museum with a short segment from the new opera Valentīna written by Arturs Maskats and performed by Evija Martinsone (soloist) and Mārtiņš Zilberts (piano). The programme will present Latvia as a reliable partner in cooperation, a cultural tourism destination and a source of inspiration, top-class professionalism and cultural achievement. It will be the most extensive worldwide presentation of Latvian culture in recent decades.

Cultural programme of Latvian Presidency starts with two art exhibitions in Belgium

At the end of November, the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union will start its cultural programme abroad with two art exhibitions in Belgium. On 19 November, the opening of the exhibition “Impressions and Parallels. Belgian and Latvian Painting from the Collections of the Latvian National Museum of Art and the Fine Arts Museum of Liège” will take place in the Fine Arts Museum of Liège (Musée des Beaux-Arts de Liège); while on 21 November, an exhibition named “Impressions and Parallels. La Louvière – Riga” will be opened in the Ianchelevici Museum (Musée Ianchelevici) in the city of La Louvière.

17 000 tulips will surround the National Library of Latvia during the Latvian Presidency

Wednesday, October 15 marked the day when the last of 17 000 tulips presented as a gift from the Embassy of the Netherlands to the Latvian Presidency of the Concil of the European Union were planted in front of the National Library of Latvia.
