European Parliament’s interpreters and translators visit Latvia ahead of the Presidency
Created on 14.10.2014.Two important visits of interpreters and translators are happening in Latvia to successfully prepare for the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Director-General of Directorate-General for Interpretation and Conferences of European Parliament (EP) Olga Cosmidou is visiting Latvia with her colleagues from October 13-14 and representatives from Directorate-General for Translation of EP will be in Latvia from October 13-17.
With the premiere of “Planet Amber”, the Latvian Presidency continues work on the European Capital of Culture program
Created on 10.10.2014.The premiere of “VFS Films” documentary “Planet Amber” which took place on Thursday, October 9 at the “Splendid Palace” cinema in Riga was a symbolic beginning to a successful cooperation between the foundation “Riga 2014” and the Secretariat of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union regarding the development of the culture program.
State Secretaries to Meet at EU Institutions in Brussels
Created on 30.09.2014.On 1 and 2 October, as part of preparations for Latvia’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, State Secretaries (the highest-ranking civil servants in each Ministry) will visit several EU institutions. They will review the status of preparations and outline the work still to be completed before 1 January 2015 when Latvia takes over the Presidency.
Join the singers for Nordic- Baltic Choral Festival
Created on 24.09.2014.The 8th Nordic–Baltic Choral Festival will take place in Latvia from June 25–28, 2015, and will be the concluding event of the public diplomacy and cultural programme of the Latvian presidency of the Council of the European Union. Choirs from Baltic and Nordic countries are welcomed to apply for participation until November 15, 2014.
Run the streets of the Presidency capital!
Created on 23.09.2014.Registration for next year’s Lattelecom Riga marathon 2015 has officially started! This event will bring together tens of thousands of runners and their supporters from all over the world and unite them under the flag of a healthy and active lifestyle.
